A New Year’s Poem
March on— Crunching the dead fir’s limbs Stomping the stubborn icy crusts. Bindle over shoulder Sun fades into the night Twilight beckons starlight Breath ascends the starry sky. Carry everything: Your broods and your frown, Your joy and your dimples, Your sorrow and your tears, Your fears and your silence. To sever the pieces Is to reject the whole. Do not despair In the death of the night. No light to guide, Heartbeat in arrhythmia, Smothering solitude. Darkness comes Yet also departs. Step by step, Run towards dawn Your feet as hooves Of a restless stallion swimming in the wind. Horizon reveals itself– A new day begins.
…awesome poemes and photos brother…what a walk around the world…
Metaphorical language can evoke so much more than the literal kind. Happy new year Camilo!
