Qué buenas foticas! Y qué buen recorrido por Santa Marta... loved learning about it.
My mouth watered with those arepas, the increase in size of the cachetes is totally worth it!
Laughed both about the sincere "excuse" at the beginning and the "soft smile" at the end 😂 I'm in the camp of no in-between haha either showing all my teeth or a pretty shy smile 🤷♂️.
Keep enjoying the trip and bringing us these beautiful pics and stories!!
I mentioned my smile dilemma to someone else this week and their advice was very straightforard: Just think of something that makes you happy. It worked!
Your photos urge me to visit Colombia. I went to a Colombian restaurant last week and mistakenly didn’t get the arepa. But now I must go back after reading your description of one
I really enjoyed this, Camilo. The photo of that church in Santa Marta is just magic, its naturally vibrant colors and the feeling of calm and peace and composure make me imagine the inside and the infinite stories it contains. And those arepas look so inviting. Nice gastronomic touch, love it!
You look great in that mirror selfie my friend. Just great (soft smiles or not).
Ha ha I had the same difficulties with smiling on demand on camera. One trick I found helps is to not think about doing a smile. It will come out forces because it is. Instead I think about someone or something that makes me happy. Then the smile is more natural!
Alex! So if you see my comment back to Oscar, I followed your advice and it worked! Not sure why I imagined that as a conversation. Nevertheless, thanks for the tip: 100% verified!
Wow the photos and your writing really brings your experience alive! The arepas look so good, I loved the picture of them paired with your nostalgia. Soft smiles are tough (I also struggle) but that picture of you looks so cool! I can’t think of the right word, maybe regal?
Haha I’m not big on street food either, but I had an arepa and it was great! But I can’t say it made me feel good afterwards.. regarding the soft smile, what’s wrong with that look? I quite like it, as it reminds me of John Snow

Easy enough, will try that!

It really is a magical land! Which restaurant did you go to?

It's a wonderful addition to Oakland! My friend and I ordered the Cartagena ceviche, patacones, empanada, and the brisket.

Grazie Silvio! Yes, I’m in love with the church photo. Selfie-wise, just following your footsteps!

Nothing really wrong with it; I just find the difference in perceptions striking!
