These beautiful sepia-colored photos create a longing for place. I believe you enjoyed your time there just looking at glimpses of these memories.

I really enjoy your essays and also this format so I’m torn. But I get as a writer you can communicate a bit more in this format and go deeper on something later. I always appreciate the beautiful poems and insights you share too. So I’m always gonna appreciate some mix of them.

I’ve often felt like I don’t quite get meditation. Especially when it’s presented as a power-up type sport. In the way you’ve described, “a broader surrender,” instead of a pursuit, it framed meditation as certainly a worthwhile endeavor. I’ll continue trying. Lord knows I need more expansion. I love this definition “Maintaining equanimity, letting your energy and not your ego drive your decisions. To not compare, but observe.” And the takeaway that stillness is the prize that certainly encourages me to continue seeking.

And thank you for sharing Alissa’s essay. I really enjoyed reading that. It wasn’t just a beautiful exploration of motherhood and seeing your children at these different moments where even they won’t have a recollection of them, but also made me think about parts of yourself that you lose and remember as they age.

I can’t wait to check out your other recommendations, both of which caught my eye before and I said I would come back to.

Thank you for sharing, Camilo!

Agree with all of this said by Dekera. Much more nuanced than my fragmented thoughts. I don’t know if you can do both the essays and these shorter things like other week? We used to have meditation at my old office and I found it really helpful. I don’t get meditation without God so I used to just think about God anyway during those sessions. Hope you write more about this topic in the future as I’m curious about where it takes your consciousness Camilo

Oppenheimer moved me, and I like the way you describe it -- "spellbinding." I enjoyed the cinematography, the score, and the ensemble cast depicting the world's greatest line-up of physicists.

Your lovely photos make me want to rewatch Before Sunrise.

Such an interesting take on Oppenheimer. Makes a ton of sense and is something I never would've considered.

Also I think "Mixed Bag of Goodies" is an awesome name

Love the thoughts on meditation, Camilo. I love the framing as the practice being rewarding in itself, not to reach any end state.

Also -- completely agree on Vienna architecture. I thought it was stunning. One of the most beautiful cities I've visited, on par with Paris, dare I say.

Thank you for sharing my essay :) really appreciate it
