Camilo! You brought back so many shared memories! And the reason for them. As you described them I recalled being "there". Only "there" wasn't there. And it wasn't Black Friday. It was Boxing Day in London. But the reasons and memories of immigrant "making it" were the same: scrimping and saving for special gifts for family, a 10GBP tea set from Harrods, a Bally set of maroon knee-high boots 👢 that I wore for 15 years! But most special in this piece was the memory of that relay line. Mum and I are laughing at the memories you resurfaced! Thanks.

Karena! I'm glad you shared your own memories with us. It's funny because most of the comments I've gotten about this piece has been about people's own family shopping experiences. It's heartwarming to read.

And 15 years is a long time for boots. Nice!

"When you have to rebuild your life like my family did when we emigrated from Colombia, you learn to celebrate all the little wins; the worries that no longer seemed mortal, the indulgences that no longer seemed luxuries." Would love to hear more about this one day.

Thanks, Rick! That is a much larger story I'm not ready to tell yet. But it will be told!

Camilo! This is so beautiful. I've never experienced the Black Friday madness but I know a glimpse of it now - or more than a glimpse since you've shared not just the Puma stories but also the green apron mafia ones. So thankful to have you, my friend.
