Camilo, I made it to the end! Thank you for writing this. I learned a TON, and not only appreciated your insightful comments throughout, they gave the essay a warmth, a soul.

I especially resonated with this: “I don’t know about you, but giving people easy access to credit, giving everyone a super computer in their pockets, and making pain management easier has made us indebted, lonely, and addicted. So maybe, it’s not a bad idea to spend more time thinking about what the shadow side of this Digital Manifest Destiny is and use our human ingenuity to mitigate the side effects.”

Please, run for office and give us hope. 😊

Thank you, James! It was great connecting yesterday and I love that this was the most memorable part of the piece. When I wrote it something clicked for me.

And politics was my dream as a child, but now I'm not so sure. Who knows, maybe I'll start as the mayor of my town :)

Politics. Now that would be an interesting turn of events for you.

Camilo, your post totally nailed the rollercoaster ride of emotions that comes with exploring AI. That shift you described, from being amazed by AI's potential to feeling uneasy about its implications – I felt that.

It's like we're all trying to figure out this new terrain, and you've put into words the questions and concerns that many of us have. I love your take on AI as a tool to boost our creativity, not replace it.

That gives me hope! Thanks for sharing your take, Camilo. It's definitely given me food for thought.

Thanks Alex! I really appreciate your comment—thought-provoking was what I was going for. There are still many questions I have (the self-inquiry never ends), but our relationship with AI will be one of the core questions that I grapple with for the next few years probably.

This was a very interesting read Camilo! I don't consider myself a techno-optimist but definitely on the more careless, come-what-may camp, and I believe my group is greatly benefitted by people like you who are more critical-yet-curious. I learned a few things, plus, as it's always the case with your writing, laughed a few times in the process. And in the end I think we reach the same conclusion: AI "potentializes" me (us). I also think it is the most important technology in our lifetimes, and we better understand, play or critique it, but do something with it, engage with it. So again, I believe that the conscious and insightful, hands-on look you're giving it will be pivotal and beneficial, both for you and your readers.

Thank you for mentioning me my friend, honored and thrilled! It's crazy that since I made that short film (3 months ago), so much has changed, just look at Sora...

Really excited both for what it'll bring in every area, and your writing! Keep us posted :)

The still shot of Mira…lol. Love how this came together, Camilo. I can feel your passion through the words. Also, that image you generated?? SO COOL! You should be a professional image generator. Do you feel ownership over that image?? I would if I came up with that prompt.

Thank you, Charlie! Your feedback was so useful and as I was editing over the weekend, there was a little Charlie angel in my shoulder asking me "How do you feel about it?"

There was a sentence that started with "The thing is" and I hurried to delete it.

That's an interesting question on ownership over the image. Maybe? Oh man, this now needs a part II.
